Ask the Expert: Receive Vacation Club Points

Elect to Trade Your Week

In 2010, Marriott Vacation Club® first introduced the Marriott Vacation Club Destinations® Exchange Program. Owners were invited to enroll their Week(s), and to date, about 60% of Owners have enrolled. Enrolled Owners can continue to use their enrolled Week(s) as they had previously, with the added option of receiving Vacation Club Points for what they own.

The deadline to elect to receive Vacation Club Points is September 30 of the prior year for Select and Executive benefit level Owners, and October 31 of the prior year for Presidential and Chairman’s Club benefit level Owners. This month, our expert shares the top reasons to elect to receive Vacation Club Points in exchange for your enrolled Week(s).

WHY ELECT TO RECEIVE VACATION CLUB POINTS FOR YOUR ENROLLED WEEKS

More time to vacation.
Most Weeks Owners purchased a floating Week in a specified season at their home resort. In most cases, the calendar year is divided into three seasons, and Owners of Weeks in a particular season may reserve the dates that fall within their season. However, by electing to receive Vacation Club Points, Enrolled Owners can use Vacation Club Points at any resort in the network at any available time throughout the year.

For example, 2022 Vacation Club Points may be used for vacations that begin any time from January 1 until December 31, 2022. And, if Enrolled Owners can’t use all their Vacation Club Points within their current Use Year, they can bank them into a future Use Year.

Marriott's Aruba Surf Club

Direct reservations for Marriott Vacation Club resorts and properties.
Enrolled Owners in the Marriott Vacation Club Destinations Exchange program can use Vacation Club Points to reserve other Marriott Vacation Club resorts and properties directly, without having to utilize a third-party exchange partner.

More flexibility.
When using Vacation Club Points to reserve Marriott Vacation Club resorts and properties, Enrolled Owners can confirm any number of nights. You are no longer locked into 7-night stays.

Spend the weekend in New York, and then use your remaining Vacation Club Points for a different vacation. Or vacation in Aruba for 10 nights instead of just seven. You can even avoid shoveling winter snow and spend the colder seasons in a villa in Orlando. The possibilities are only limited by the number of Vacation Club Points you receive in exchange for your enrolled Week(s). Of course, all reservations are based on availability.

More value.
If you enjoy the flexibility of traveling in a resort’s shoulder season (when there is less demand), or if you can take off for more spontaneous travel, you can get a lot of value for your enrolled Week. Exchanging your peak season Week for Vacation Club Points will typically afford you enough Points to book more than just one week in the shoulder season.

For example, a Platinum Season 2-bedroom villa at Marriott’s Ocean Pointe on Singer Island can currently be exchanged for 4,325 Vacation Club Points. Currently, you could reserve two weeks in a 2-bedroom villa at that same resort in September for 4,000 Vacation Club Points. Or, if you no longer need the full 2-bedroom when you travel, you could reserve more than 2 weeks in a 1-bedroom villa.

Another smart option is using Vacation Club Points to reserve discounted stays within 60 days of arrival for a stay via Marriott Vacation Club Destinations® Escapes.

Finally, Owners at the Executive benefit level and higher enjoy a discount off the number of Vacation Club Points required for vacations when reserving within 30 or 60 days prior to arrival.

Access to the Explorer Collection.
If there’s a year when you want to plan a bucket-list vacation like an African safari, a cooking tour through the Amalfi Coast, or a cruise through the Galapagos Islands, you can access thousands of vacations through the Explorer Collection. You can exchange Vacation Club Points for cruises, guided tours, hotel stays, food-focused adventures, and more.

The deadline for Enrolled Owners to elect to receive Vacation Club Points for their 2022 Week(s) is rapidly approaching. If you would like to try using Vacation Club Points, you can easily elect to receive Vacation Club Points on your Owner website.
